Testimonial: Birthday Magic

We can't stop blushing from a recent note we received from our birthday girl who received an amazing birthday card film from her loving husband.

Our biggest reward is the thought of her huge smile while watching the film.

Thank you, Glynnis. It was an honor to help celebrate your special birthday.

Dear Andrea,

I was swept off my feet when I saw your film, GLYNNIS UNPACKED. It was a complete surprise, but not only that, the film brought together the most precious parts of my life with such style and care, wit and humor. This is the most heartwarming gift anyone could ask for.
You combed through oodles of film for sure, not to mention pictures and home movies. And you created an absolute gem.

I am seriously impressed. And I can't thank you enough for your talent, your care, and your stamina!

Brava!!!!

Most sincerely,

Glynnis

...who is now, finally, very happily unpacked!

You trust us with your family artifacts and confide in us your most cherished memories.

The Best Birthday Gift? A Birthday Card Film

Rewind Pictures is enjoying a very busy fall season filled with filmmaking for many joyous occasions!

Recently, a loving husband commissioned us to create a "big birthday card" film for his loving wife on her milestone birthday. Our birthday girl is an actress, therefore, we had really fun film clips to work with along with unearthed Super 8 film from her childhood and gorgeous photos of her and her family spanning the years. We threw in some fun music and I must say, it might just be the coolest birthday card I have ever seen!

All you need is.....

In addition to editing fun, unique Bar/Bat Mitzvah photo montages and tribute films, we also LOVE to think outside of the box for your Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration.

We are currently working on a very special Bat Mitzvah film filled with LOVE.

Last Saturday, we took advantage of a beautiful fall NYC day and turned our girl into Queen BEA(tle) for the day. Surrounded by people she LOVES, we filmed secret *hush hush* scenes in locations throughout the city that will be incorporated into the final film!

Here's a sneak peak of production stills you are going to LOVE.

Stay TUNED...the film is coming soon!

Meet Alice: 106 years of living

If you spend 12 minutes watching something today, it should be this.

106 year old Holocaust survivor, Alice, shares her personal history and the wisdom gained.

This is an example of why we started Rewind Pictures. Everyone has a story that needs to be told and recorded. Some are extraordinary, but all are essential.

Listen to some classical music today and embrace life like Alice.

Capturing a Moment in Time

I was enthralled this past Sunday evening with a story on CBS' 60 Minutes.

It chronicles a historical film taken over a century ago on Market Street in Chicago days before the major earthquake of 1906. It is a a time traveler's glimpse of a different era that we can now experience with our own eyes.

With the amount of recording done today, it made me realize that one hundred years from now we are most likely sealed in the record books and people will have a much easier time looking back at how we lived our lives. How times change so quickly and how important it is to document them.

Fascinating. Enjoy.

Finding meaning in new technology

There are thousands of photos, hours of video, and an infinite amount of text that document our lives every day. The challenge we are facing today is what to do with all of those materials.

We hope by now you know part of the answer to this dilemma: Rewind Pictures!

We can help you make something creative that will house your memories in one digital home. Whether it's a montage of photos set to music, a family history film that documents your story, or simply transferring or digitizing the photos and video that continue to sit in the box in your attic.

Recently, we found one really COOL way to use the technology literally at our fingertips along with life's documentation to do something completely outside of the box and definitely memorable!

In the spirit of fall wedding proposal season, enjoy!

Make an impact at your next gala event

It's a sure sign of Autumn approaching when we begin fielding phone calls from corporate event planners and non-profit organizations alike inquiring about using film to make an impact at their upcoming events.

It's a daunting task for organizations to plan annual extravaganzas that stand out from the rest, inspire empathy and call on communities to donate to your cause.

A Tribute Film or Organization Profile is guaranteed to make it happen.

As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words and no medium accomplishes this better. When even the most professionally written speeches fail at an event, a film will grab your attendees' attention, explain your cause and inspire donations within three to five minutes.

Past clients say the proof is in the pudding when it comes to their events. Dollars donated on years they had a film and years they did not are noticeable.

Since every one of our films are tailor-made to our clients' needs, we welcome the challenge of making a film for your next event that pushes your organization to the next level.

Testimonial: Mitzvah Love

We got the nicest testimonial from one of our June Bar Mitzvah moms yesterday and thought we would share with you. You might remember our post about their great celebration from a few weeks ago.

I just finished working with Andrea and Florence from Rewind Pictures who created two montages for my son's Bar Mitzvah on June 12, 2010. They created the montages from pictures I supplied them with and turned them into 2 separate beautiful reels which ran on loops continuously throughout my son's party.

The entire experience of working with Andrea and Florence was wonderful. They are both knowledgeable; creative;
they delivered what they promised when they promised and were happy to work within my budget.

The final products were amazing and proved to be a highlight of the party. The montages will also serve as beautiful ke
epsakes in the years to come. I highly recommend them and intend to work with them again and use their company should I ever need any family films or montage work done in the future.

Thank you for the kind words!

Finding Peace in Wisconsin

Recently, the Rewind Pictures team traveled (yes, we do that!) to beautiful Dodgeville, Wisconsin to document one of our favorite clients leading a workshop on inner peace based on the ideas and principles of acclaimed author, Eckhart Tolle.

This assignment was a follow up to a film we did last year (see it here). That film's goal was to garner interest in attending the workshop and it brought a overwhelmingly positive response.

The next logical step was to go film the workshop! The workshop took place at Bethel Horizons Retreat Center. It was a beautiful weekend filled with nature, open mindedness and friendship.

Here are a few photos of the weekend captured by our resident photographer, Florence!

Stay tuned for the workshop film currently in the works!

Testimonial: Going the Extra Mile

We have been in awe of our latest wedding couple, Melissa & Bryan, for some time now. They did the Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid, NY last weekend and got married at the end of the race...and we were there to film it and preserve it forever!

The Ironman Triathlon consists of 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon(26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break.

Yup, you heard it right. Quite an accomplishment!

We made a 10 minute film that documents Melissa & Bryan's love story, their inspiration for the Ironman Wedding , the training process, and of course, their race/wedding day. The film premiered this past weekend at a wedding celebration at the Bowery Hotel in Manhattan.

This is what Bryan wrote to us:

The video brought many to tears at the reception on Saturday. It turned out awesome. Melissa and I watched it again yesterday—we cherish it. Great job.

We can't wait to share this special film with all of you.

In the meantime, here are Bryan & Melissa's race photos. How cute is the veil?

Testimonial: Bar Mitzvah Magic

Today we're sharing a wonderful photo by talented photographer
Fadi Kheir from a recent Bar Mitzvah in June at Powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn.

We created two photo montages projected on the gigantic white walls of the space for this beautiful event designed by Eyal Tessler of In Any Event. You might remember our recent post about it.

The montages captured the attention of the guests throughout the celebration and also served as great pieces of artwork (a definite way to cut some costs!).

What's your summer project?

The dog days of summer are here. It's the time when you would rather be indoors than outdoors due to the sweltering heat. So what do you do with all of your downtime not spent on the beach or bopping around the city?

This summer I have vowed to do 2 things:
  • Finish my wedding album (before my 2nd wedding anniversary!)
  • Digitally archive my family's archival photos (I'm talking my Mom and Dad when they were babies!)
Now, don't get me wrong, it has literally taken me years of saying I was going to accomplish these two goals. But I am thinking that the reward will be worth the pain. I figure I will be all set when ready to make my family history film and my children and children's children will be happy that I have secured their family history by digitally archiving the photos.

My digital archiving tip:
Use a program like File Maker Pro to catalog the photos you are digitally archiving. That way you can store them with approximate dates, events and people marked.

Stay tuned for excepts from my summer project soon!

Speaking Your Language: Rewind Pictures Book Trailer

We are thrilled to present our newest Rewind Pictures adventure-a video book trailer for Ilie Ruby's newest release, "The Language of Trees" (Avon HarperCollins).

Ilie found us after seeing the last book trailer Florence edited and produced with Corinna Barsan of Other Press for Michelle Hoover's "The Quickening" (Other Press). We were thrilled to help fulfill her want for a little something to entice her potential readers and fans on the heels of "The Language of Trees" release on July 20, 2010.

We worked closely with Ilie to ensure we conveyed her vision, style and story line for this fascinating book. It was a pleasurable collaboration and we look forward to creating more in the future!

If you would like to know more about Ilie Ruby and the upcoming book release for "The Language of Trees" please go to her website www.ilieruby.com.

Artwork for your special event

Recently we made two beautiful montages for a Bar Mitzvah celebration at Powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn.

We worked alongside event planner, Eyal Tessler, of In Any Event and our client to utilize the montages as works of art on the huge, white, lofty walls of the event space. Besides great content (some seriously great shots of our Bar Mitzvah boy) what else do you need to make your piece of art stand out?

A great frame.

We picked a nice modern frame to go along with the event design and imported one on each montage in our edit.

We had the honor of attending the event and were thrilled with the outcome! Not only did the client kill two birds with one stone by getting a montage and decor at once, but the photos looked fabulous and got the attention they deserve in their sparkly frame.

Testimonial: Shiny, Happy People!

Today we're sharing a photo of our recent Bat Mitzvah girl watching her montage at the celebration a few weeks ago in Westchester County.

How cute is she? A picture certainly speaks a thousand words.

Stay tuned for her montage on the blog very soon! It's a good one.

Rewind Pictures: Collaboration

Today we bring you a fabulous collaboration between two of my favorite ladies of the film & publishing worlds!

Corinna Barsan from Other Press recently called on Florence's expertise to edit a book trailer promoting one of their newest releases, The Quickening by Michelle Hoover. It was a perfect match for Rewind Pictures style. Florence incorporated an interview with Michelle, family photos and her great grandmother's journal entries, which were the inspiration for her book.

Wouldn't you like to have one of these behind-the-scenes trailers attached to every book on your wish list?

Bravo, ladies.
